According to estimates, when completed, the new Bypass stretch can be used by at least 17,250 vehicles every day.
Currently, the existing Katpadi Bridge on the Palar River is the only connection between the Katpadi and the agricultural villages around Vellore Taluks. The two-lane bridge helps to reach Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka via Chittoor.
