The United States is in a weak position in negotiations with Iran, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Monday.

“I worry that the United States is in a very weak position right now vis-à-vis Iran, which should be the outlier, the one in the background, the one who should be held accountable,” Clinton told MS NOW’s “Morning Joe” on Monday.

Clinton told MS NOW that the US needs to clear the slate for negotiations with Iran and “they need to bring in people who actually know something about nuclear weapons.”

Peace talks between the US and Iran collapsed over the weekend, with Vice President J.D. Vance leaving Pakistan empty-handed.

“So we’re in a situation right now where we’re weak, where we’ve actually lost the influence and initiative that we had,” Clinton added. “I supported Trump’s bombing of nuclear facilities in June. I thought it was an appropriate and limited strategic goal. I opposed his inconsistent attack on Iran.”

Clinton said the administration must return to tough negotiations with “the right people at the table.”

“I also know from personal experience that [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] “Netanyahu has tried to get every American president to agree to an open-ended war with Iran because I had many, many hours of conversations with him and his war cabinet about this and I refused to accept the immature desire to do something to Iran that, you know, could not be described as an adequately final situation,” Netanyahu said.

“Here we are now. I think you have to get back to tough negotiations with the right people at the table who know what they’re doing,” Clinton added.

President Donald Trump has ordered the US Navy to blockade Iran’s ports in the Strait of Hormuz starting Monday.

USA started to implement blockade of Iranian ports Monday at 10:00 in the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump ordered the blockade after peace talks with Tehran failed this weekend. The map showing US ships in the area shows at least 17 ships were deployed as of Monday morning.

U.S. Central Command announced plans to enforce the blockade in a notice to sailors early Monday.

“Any ship entering or exiting the blockaded area without permission is subject to interception, diversion and seizure,” the memo said.
