Himachal Pradesh cloudbursts, flash floods: 2 dead, 20 feared swept away in Kangra

On Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at Himachal Pradesh, about 20 people were swept with cloud explosions, flash floods and heavy rain.

Two bodies from Manuni Khad in the Kangra region were recovered, while the Indira Priyadarshini 15-20 workers placed in a working colony near the hydroelectric project zone were afraid of sweeping after a water level at Khaniyara Manuni Khad.

According to the authorities, the project work was suspended due to rain, and the workers were resting in temporary shelters near the site when the flood waters swept workers from Manuni Khad and nearby sewers.

State Disaster Response Power (SDRF), local government, Gram Panchayat and Revenue Department teams reached the point to conduct search and rescue operations.

Authorities, some local workers associated with the project were reported to be safe. In an article on social media, Bjp Mla Sudhir Sharma from Dharamsala, said that about 20 workers were sweeping.

More details are expected as recovery operations between challenging weather conditions continue. In the meantime, cloud explosions in various parts of the Kullu region, causing flash floods, many houses, a school building, shops, roads, and small bridges, as three people disappeared, he said.
