A Tesco customer wrote to the supermarket in X that the card machines were closed tonight.

“Every time I tried to pay, I was told the payment was declined. So I paid cash,” the customer said.

“When I returned home, I learned that at least one of the card transactions had gone through.

“So I paid twice, what gives?”

Tesco responded and said: “Thanks for getting in touch, sorry you paid the store twice.”

“There is currently an issue with Worldpay which is affecting us and other businesses that take card payments.”

Tesco said they would investigate the incident.
