Fire, ugly Miznon confrontation spark mixed response from advocates
One of the Melbourne leaders of the pro -Palestinian protest movement “rejected the attack on an Eastern Melbourne synagogue, said to another group of people to“ stop understanding the pearls ”on the ugly scenes in an Israeli restaurant on Friday night.
Nasser Mashni, President of the Australian Palestinian Defense Network, said that the wider pro -Palestinian movement rejected the attacker, but that the sacred sites in Gaza were brutally attacked, and that the synagogue was explicitly wanted to condemn the fire.

“Whoever you are … You should know that the only thing that stops you is knowing [from] Attacking a church or mosque is that it is not a complete opportunity.
“You are not part of ours, you are not part of our movement. We absolutely, completely and completely reject you. And I hope the police will soon catch you.”
Mashni, who is currently traveling in the UK, made comments after being set on fire as the front gates of the Eastern Melbourne synagogue gathered for the weekly shabbat dinner.
A man from Sydney was accused of the attack.
The same evening, ugly scenes appeared in the CBD, where the Israeli restaurant Miznon made a storm by a group of people who told me death to IDF ”and led to the arrest of a man at the scene.
Separately, a building hosting a military parts manufacturer in Greensborough was deported with red paint on Friday evening.
