Horror as boy, 14, dies after being hit by train | UK | News

British Transport Police have confirmed that a 14-year-old boy has tragically died after being struck by a train in Nottinghamshire. The incident happened on the railway line at Burton Joyce at around 7pm on Wednesday following reports of a person on the tracks.
Despite the quick intervention of the medical teams who arrived at the scene, it was determined that the child died at the scene. East Midlands Railway issued a statement following his death, affecting routes around Derby, Leicester and Nottingham. They said: “We are sorry to inform you that a person has been hit by a train.
“This has had a major impact on trains on the Newark Castle/Derby/Crewe and Leicester/Nottingham/Lincoln/Grimsby routes.”
A British Transport Police spokesman gave further details of the incident and confirmed it was not being treated as suspicious.
They said: “Officers were called to the railway line at Burton Joyce, Nottinghamshire, at 7.06pm on 26 November to reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended and unfortunately a 14-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
