He was found dead on a British cruise ship. The ship had to stop on the Greek island of Crete after the 79-year-old man lost consciousness.

He was rushed to a hospital in Chania before he was pronounced dead on the morning of Tuesday, July 14. The cause of death has not yet been determined but local police have ruled out any foul play. Their investigation continues.

The ship docked in Crete before the man was taken to hospital by ambulance. However, he was soon pronounced dead despite the best efforts of medical professionals.

Chania Central Port Authority opened a preliminary investigation into the death. Further details have not yet been released by local authorities.

The death comes a day after a cruise member died while the ship was sailing off the coast of Mexico. Princess Cruises has confirmed that a crew member died after falling overboard.

A large-scale search operation was launched after the worker, whose identity has not yet been determined, could not be rescued. The ship later canceled a scheduled stop in Cozumel.

David Jimenez, a passenger on the ship, said: “The ship slowed down from time to time and circled. Then they came back and circled again. They follow procedures but notify people every hour.”

The cruise line said in a statement: “Our thoughts are with the crew member, their families and everyone else affected by this situation. We are providing support to our team on board.”
