After a 10 -year -old female student was diagnosed with meningitis, he lost both legs and right arm. Penelope Vidal-Walsh from Southport was taken to hospital after complaining that he felt sick to his family.

On April 11, he woke up with “a caries that many parents would not suspect that they are unusual.” Then he woke up hours later, and his father Ricardo Vidal vomited before he put him in the bathroom. He didn’t notice anything that wasn’t worried, so he went back to bed.

The next morning, Penelope’s father noticed a small purple sign on his neck, Liverpool Echo Reports. His mother then noticed a purple rash in his knee before he was taken to Ormskirk Hospital.

Penelope was later transferred to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, which was diagnosed with meningitis and ran to intensive care. His father said that he spent the last “99 days of fighting and healing now.”

He said: “During this time, meningococcal disease and also a very rare fungal infection that caused severe complications. As part of Penelope treatment, he had a triple amputation surgery that caused his lower extremities and right arm.

“He is currently undergoing skin vaccination as a part of rehabilitation and healing. He has made great progress and improvement and even uses a wheelchair and increases the power of the core and left arm.”

Penelope remains in the critical care unit in Alder Hey while preparing for a skin graft. However, his father said that if everything went to plan, he could be discharged in October.

The family is now gathering money for its future, so it has the chance to live an independent life. ” Ricardo added: “We want to give him the best life and opportunities to fulfill his best quality life and dreams.

“We want it not to allow it to prevent it from being the most energetic, fun, live girl.

“He continues to be determined and motivated to continue to improve his power. We are incredible and proud of the power and flexibility he shows us every day.”

Symptoms of meningitis and sepsis include:
