Horror as man found dead on M4 motorway as police issue statement | UK | News

A man was found dead on a busy highway, police said in a statement. The 24-year-old man was found on a minor road on the M4 after police received reports of a man in distress on a nearby footbridge. The motorway was closed near Bridgend in Wales on Saturday (6 December) as emergency services attended the scene and unsuccessfully attempted resuscitation. Wales Online reports.
South Wales Police officers arrived at a byway near Junction 36 of the main road shortly before 9.30pm on Saturday after receiving a report of “a man in distress”, prompting a temporary closure in both directions. Crime scene investigation teams (CSI) as well as the South Wales Ambulance service also attended the scene.
The union spokesman said ambulance workers tried to resuscitate the 24-year-old but were unable to do so.
They added that his family had been informed and given support.
The full police statement reads: “Officers were called to the M4 footbridge near Junction 36 shortly before 9.30pm on Saturday, December 6, following reports of a man in distress.
“Upon arrival of emergency services, the body of a man was found on a nearby minor road. Ambulance [workers] An attempt was made to resuscitate without success. The motorway was briefly closed in both directions to allow police and CSI to intervene.
“The man has been identified as a 24-year-old man from Litchard, Bridgend. His family are aware of this, have confirmed his identity and are being supported.”
The partial closure of the M4, one of England’s busiest motorways, from Junction 35 to Junction 38, was lifted early this morning.
According to reports, in the first hours after the closure came into force, speeds on the M4 westbound and eastbound near Bridgend averaged 15mph.
