Horror as man killed dad, stabbed mum then threw himself off roof in major tourist city | World | News

A murder-suicide in which a man killed his father, stabbed his mother and then threw himself from a rooftop terrace shook a popular city on Thursday (January 22). The 36-year-old man allegedly killed his 65-year-old father and left his mother with severe stab wounds. He then reportedly climbed to the top of the property and jumped. The National Police said the incidents occurred around 8.50am local time when a call was received about the deaths of two men.

It was learned that a woman, the wife and mother of the deceased, was also in serious condition. Police have launched an investigation into the incident and all evidence currently indicates that the couple was attacked by their son for unknown reasons.

The reported patricide occurred at a property near Boliches Boulevard in Fuengirola, a popular expat city and family-friendly resort town on Spain’s Costa del Sol.

According to Europepress, a spokesperson for the National Police in Malaga announced that a warning came from a relative and neighbor who found the 65-year-old man dead. The spokesperson added that the “cause and trigger is unknown at this time” and that investigations by various police services are “working on this matter to clarify what happened.”

Once a fishing village, Fuengirola now blends traditional Spanish charm with modern amenities, offering water sports, shopping and dining, as well as easy access to Malaga Airport.

This reported parricide hits a country already rocked by a series of tragic rail incidents this week, including one of the deadliest disasters in Spain’s modern history.

On January 18, the high-speed Iryo train from Málaga to Madrid derailed on a recently renovated section of straight track near Adamuz, Córdoba. Their rear carriage got stuck in the path of the oncoming Renfe Alvia train. In the collision, 46 people, including the driver, died and approximately 300 people were injured. Investigators are currently investigating a possible “faulty rail weld” as the cause.

“The serious accidents at Adamuz and Gelida, both resulting in fatalities, are a turning point in demanding that all necessary measures be taken to guarantee the safety of railway operations,” train operators’ union SEMAF said in a statement. he said.
