Labor the ‘party of government’. Except in Farrer
Pauline Hanson’s protest movement won her lower house seat for the first time in the Farrer by-election on Saturday. Labor did not object to this. What is fraud?
The fraud came to light when the self-proclaimed ‘party of government’ decided not to contest the seat vacated by ousted Liberal leader Sussan Ley. We can assume that Labor does not want to cover up the drop in votes, but in the process shows Farrer voters how little they care about them.
Labor has never held the seat held by National’s Tim Fischer, but otherwise by the Liberals. In all likelihood Labor would help Buckley win, but he received 37% of the two-party preferred vote in last year’s election and Labor’s preference flow could have led to a different outcome this time. However, Labor strategists probably read the tea leaves and reveled in the idea of another Liberal Party scrapping the ticket instead.
This is clearly the most important thing in the minds of the current leading half of the Uniparty.
However, this did not stop Jane Hume, the Liberals’ stalwart and beacon of thick analysis, from blaming Labor for the Liberals’ loss…
