Prashant Tamang’s wife Martha Aley, three-year-old daughter Ariah bid tearful farewell to Indian Idol 3 winner

Prashant Tamang, who hailed from Darjeeling, passed away at his home in Delhi on Sunday. Tamang married Martha Aley in 2011 and they welcomed their daughter Ariah Tamang in 2022. She was the winner of Indian Idol Season 3, featured in Paatal Lok 2 and will be seen in Salman Khan’s Battle of Galwan.

Singer and actor Prashant Tamang’s wife Martha Aley and their three-year-old daughter Ariah Tamang paid their last tearful tribute to him on Monday. The body of the singer-actor, who passed away in Delhi, was brought to Bagdogra airport in Siliguri on Monday morning. Tamang married Martha Aley in 2011 and they welcomed their daughter Ariah Tamang in 2022.
His wife Martha Aley expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and condolences from fans and well-wishers around the world following Tamang’s death. He told ANI: “Thank you to everyone. I am getting calls from all over the world. People I know, people I don’t know, buy me flowers. People stand outside my house, people came to the hospital to see him for the last time.” Addressing the speculations about his sudden death, Martha Aley explained that there were no suspicious circumstances: “It was a natural death. He was in his sleep when he left us. I was with him at the time,” he said.
Raju Bista, the BJP MP from Darjeeling and many other prominent figures from the entertainment fraternity were present to pay their last respects to the late singer. Speaking to ANI, Bista expressed her grief over Tamang’s sudden demise. “This is a big loss for us. Prashant Tamang has done a great job with his singing and talent as an artist. He has done a great job in bringing the entire Gorkha people together. We will always be grateful to him for this. The whole country is with his family in this difficult time. He has a very young daughter and his wife works in Air India. The family was living in Delhi. We will be with his family,” the BJP MP said. he said.
Actor and singer Meiyang Chang also paid his last respects to Tamang. Speaking to ANI, Chang expressed his sadness over Tamang’s sudden demise. “We are all in shock. This is a big loss for everyone. A loss for the music industry. Biggest loss for the Gorkha community.” he said. She recalled the days she spent with Tamang in season 3 of Indian Idol and shared, “When we were all together on Idol 3, it was a matter of great pride for the entire Gurkha community. Even during the competition, we did not feel like we were competing against her.”
“When the auditions for Paatal Lok were going on, he called me and asked if he should audition. Mahaveer sir and I were constantly encouraging him and telling him, ‘Please go ahead!’ we were saying. After telling her how good she was, how she didn’t realize how talented she was, she finally went and auditioned on the spot. “Everyone saw how well he performed in Paatal Lok,” he added.

Prashant Tamang, who hailed from West Bengal’s Darjeeling district, passed away at his home in Delhi on Sunday. Tamang became the winner of Indian Idol Season 3. Apart from cementing her position in music, she also ventured into acting and became famous in Season 2 of Paatal Lok. He will also be seen in Salman Khan’s upcoming film Battle of Galwan, which is scheduled to release on April 17, 2026.
