The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), the special cell of the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Police, carried out searches at the house of a police officer, brother of Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, in Jammu on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.

Meanwhile, Mr Surinder Choudhary said his brother was victimized “due to internal rivalry within the police department”.

The raid was carried out early in the morning at the police officer’s house in Jammu. “The searches at Vijay Choudhary’s house were conducted in connection with the disproportionate assets case,” officials said.

Mr. Vijay Choudhary, working as an Inspector in Police, was transferred to the Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh in September 2025.

“Some officers don’t like him. He was looking for a promotion and was going to be Deputy Chief of Police.” [DSP]. I did not expect that an officer fighting against terrorism and criminals would face such action,” said Mr. Surinder Choudhary.

He said this was “wrong on the part of the police officers who were behind this”. “ACB raids and discredits officers, but how many cases have been proven later? Such actions will demoralize police officers who want to work,” the Deputy Chief Minister said.
