Republic Day 2026 in Tamil Nadu: Governor Ravi unfurls national flag in presence of CM Stalin

Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi unfurled the national flag in Chennai in the presence of Prime Minister MK Stalin and other dignitaries on Monday, January 26, 2026, on the occasion of Republic Day celebrations. Earlier, the Prime Minister received the Governor upon his arrival at the greeting base.

The ceremonial march received applause from those gathered near the Workers’ Statue in Kamarajar Salai.

Mr. Stalin then presented various awards. Fireman driver V. Sankar, fireman S. Rameshkumar, fireman P. Suresh and Jessy received the Anna Medal of Valor on behalf of her late husband Peter Johnson. M. Kalimula from Tiruppur district received the Kottai Ameer Award.

Farmer G. Veeramani received the Narayanasamy Naidu Paddy Productivity Award. Inspector P. Natarajan, sub-inspectors M. Sathianandan, S. Manikandan, K. Natarajan and constable VP Kannan received Gandhi Adigal police medals.

Madurai city, Tiruppur city and Coimbatore district bagged the top three positions in the Prime Minister’s Trophy for the best police stations in the state.

Later, the Governor, Chief Minister and other dignitaries witnessed cultural performances by school children and youth. Wing Commander Paramjeet Singh Arora was the commanding officer of the parade, while Flight Lieutenant Thamizhvani served as the adjutant of the parade.
