White City fire: 100 firefighters tackle blaze at nine-storey former BBC building in west London

Approximately 100 firefighters are fighting a fire in a nine -storey building in the White city of London, which is believed to be the old home of the BBC.

The London Fire Department (LFB) said 15 firefighters joined the Wood Lane building.

The fire affects the floors towards the top of the building containing a restaurant and external floor covering and channel area, while an unknown number of apartments has been potentially affected.

LFB and metropolis police are trying to evacuate nearby buildings as a resting center for those who have to leave their homes.

According to the images obtained from the scene shared by LFB, Fire seems to affect the Helios building in the television center, which is the home of the publisher until 2012.

The Website of the Helios building says it currently contains 162 houses with a gym and a 47 -bedroom hotel.

Wood Lane is closed to traffic and it is recommended that people avoid the area.

Brigade, the first reports of the fire were taken immediately after 3 o’clock and Hammersmith, North Kensington, Kensington, Chiswick and Environmental Firefighters, the crews took action to the scene, he said.

Two 32 -meter turntable ladder is deployed as water towers to help extinguish the fire from the height.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
