How the false story of a second Bondi shooting spread

Amid the chaos of Sunday night’s anti-Semitic attack on Bondi Beach in which 15 people were killed by two gunmen, locals in Dover Heights were alarmed by an unconfirmed report of a second shooting in the area. The claim began with rumors on social media and from people in the field; Channel Seven quickly repeated the claim, stressing that it had not been verified.
At 6.47pm the first gunshots and casualties in Bondi were reported to emergency services and Sydney scrambled to find out more about the horror in the east of the city.
