Ayushman Bharat enrollment begins in West Bengal, benefits likely from July: CM Suvendu Adhikari

Addressing the press conference after the virtual meeting with Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, Adhikari said that many central health plans and projects were reviewed during the interaction.
“Today, we had a virtual meeting with Union Health Minister JP Nadda. Various plans and projects were reviewed in this meeting. The previous government opposed the central government in various ways. The Union Health Minister said that the state government did not share any data on dengue in 2015, 2016 and 2017. Registrations for Ayushman Bharat have started; we hope people will benefit from July,” Adhikari said. he said.

Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) is the Centre’s flagship health insurance scheme that provides financial protection for secondary and tertiary healthcare to economically weak families.
On May 20, Adhikari had said that the state government was ready to fence 27 kilometers of land along the Indo-Bangladesh border. He had also announced that land would be provided for infrastructure development of Border Patrol Stations (BOPs) and Border Security Force (BSF).
The Prime Minister had accused the previous Trinamool Congress government of delaying and refusing to allocate land for the border fence, claiming that the lack of cooperation had adversely affected national security and efforts to curb illegal infiltration. (MOMENT)
