I wonder if Ralph Fiennes was treated to a large dose of karma after he cheekily slapped ex-wife Alex Kingston during his Strictly debut last week.
The same week, Miss Kingston, 62, Strictly released a trailer showing Fiennes dancing with his former flame Francesca Annis in rehearsals for the play Small Hotel.
Fiennes, 62, began a relationship with Annis, 80, when they starred in Hamlet in 1995, and Annis was married to Miss Kingston.
Perhaps it was karmic revenge that Fiennes’s opening night at the Theater Royal Bath last Friday descended into chaos as the spinning stage shattered with a crackling sound as the play reached its climax.
The security curtain opened and the stage manager jumped in and said: ‘We’ll reset and start over from where we left off.’
But it took 13 agonizing minutes to fix the glitch; Meanwhile, some members of the audience walked out while others stood up, stretched their legs, stretched and turned on their phones.
When the security curtain finally opened again and the play restarted, the audience began to applaud as Fiennes’ character was revealed, sitting on the bed and looking angry.
He met Miss Kingston as a student and dated her for 10 years before marrying her from 1993 to 1997.
He and Ms. Annis were together for 11 years, from 1995 to 2006.
