Howie Mandel posts Instagram apology to Kelly Ripa after awkward moment

Howie Mandel apologized to Kelly Ripa after his awkward moment on ‘Live With Kelly and Mark’ on Monday.
Comedian took over instagram He apologized to the television host on Saturday, saying his reaction was a joke that was not well received.
“Okay, I’ve been debating whether or not to post this for 48 hours and I don’t know if I’m doing the right thing,” Mandel began her apology video, captioning it with “Message to @kellyripa.”
“Philosophically, I don’t believe that someone… someone who is a comedian should apologize for a joke, it’s a joke,” he said.

“It was a joke and it wasn’t meant to offend, it wasn’t meant to… you may not like it, and in all my years, in all my 50 years in business, I have never publicly apologized… This is hard for me, but this is for Kelly Ripa, who has been incredibly supportive in the past,” Mandel said in video shot on the beach.
“Not only was I a guest on his show, but I co-hosted with him and I’ve known him for years. The producer of the show, Micheal Gelman, is a very close friend of his. And when I go there, I just try to be fun and entertaining,” she explained.

“And sometimes, as a comedian, things don’t turn out the way you want them to. I don’t know how to say this, but I don’t want to just say I apologize to Kelly,” Mandel said. “But that’s the hardest part… you’re right. You’re absolutely right.”
She appeared to make light of the issue, ending the video with: “And I’m sorry I don’t see it that way, but after much thought and self-reflection, it is… I look great for my age, I really do. I look really, really great, and I need to come to terms with the fact that I look that good.”
The tense moment on air began when “Live With Kelly and Mark” co-host Mark Consuelos, who is also Ripa’s husband, told Mandel: “You just celebrated your 70th anniversary. You’re 70.”
“It doesn’t make any sense,” Ripa added.

“What do you mean there’s no point?” Mandel asked and Consuelos said: “You look great!”
Mandel appeared to take Ripa’s compliment as a leap of age, saying: “I look great? That doesn’t mean anything to me. No, no, no, no. I don’t like it because it’s a warning.”
“What do you mean there’s no point?” he asked, and Consuelos added: “You look great!”
During tense moments, Mandel said, “I look great? That doesn’t mean anything to me. No, no, no, no. I don’t like it because it’s a warning.”
“We’re not saying you look great at 70. You look great,” Ripa replied.

Consuelos tried to make light of the moment by joking, “I’m saying this. I’m saying that.”
“That’s like telling a stupid person that he’s smart,” he said, implying that the compliment was an insult.
“Yes,” Consuelos replied, before Mandel eased the situation: “I’m going to be serious for a minute. I’m gorgeous!” joked Mandel, laughing.
