‘Hundreds more’ ICE agents due in Minnesota after killing of Renee Good – US politics live | ICE (US Immigration and Customs Enforcement)

• “Hundreds” of ICE agents will arrive in Minneapolis today after an officer shot and killed a woman in her car last week. The murder of Renee Good sparked protests in many cities. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said more officers were deployed to protect them.

• Fed chairman Jerome Powell, who has been criticized by Trump for refusing to cut interest rates, announced Sunday that he faces criminal investigation by federal prosecutors over renovations to Federal Reserve buildings. He made it clear that the “unprecedented” investigation was politically motivated.

• All eyes are on how the United States will respond to Iran’s deadly crackdown on protesters and whether it will take further military action in addition to its attacks last year. Trump said Sunday that he was in contact with the opposition and that U.S. officials could meet with their Iranian counterparts.

• Trump is also threatening to cut off Cuba’s oil supply from Venezuela, warning them to “make a deal BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE” in a post on Truth Social on Sunday. “NO MORE OIL OR MONEY WILL GO TO CUBA – ZERO!” His threats against Venezuela’s traditional ally came after the United States kidnapped and deposed Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro last week; Concerns about the White House’s claims regarding Greenland also continue.
