Hundreds of North Central students block traffic in ICE walkout

Hundreds of North Central High School students participating in the anti-ICE strike poured onto 86th Street in north Indianapolis on Monday.

An estimated more than 400 students blocked the intersection of 86th Street and Westfield Boulevard and filled the parking lots of nearby businesses.

An ambulance arrived at the scene along with Indianapolis Metropolitan Police and MSD Washington County Police, who were blocking traffic.

“Get ICE out!” students chanted slogans. One video showed students blocking traffic, displaying signs and waving the Mexican flag while playing music.

Car horns honked and some students stood on top of the vehicles.

IMPD responded to the scene at 1:53 p.m. The young people had completely blocked the intersection at one point, but they blocked traffic on the orders of the police.
