Huntingdon train attack suspect refuses to appear in court | UK | News

The man accused of stabbing multiple people on a train in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, refused to appear in court today.
Anthony Williams, 32, was due to appear via video link at Cambridge Crown Court to enter his defense into the attacks. But the court heard Williams refused to join the ‘link room’. The brief hearing was postponed and hearings will continue on January 28. Williams, 32, of Langford Road, Peterborough, is charged with 10 counts of attempted murder following the stabbing of several people on an LNER train from Doncaster to London on the evening of November 1.
The 6.25pm service was diverted and stopped at Huntingdon, where Mr Williams was eventually arrested, following numerous 999 calls from the train.
A psychiatric report regarding Williams’ mental state was requested and today’s hearing was postponed to January 28, 2026 in the same court.
A provisional hearing date has been set for 22 June 2026, under the supervision of a High Court Judge at Cambridge Crown Court.
Williams is also charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm for an alleged assault on a male police officer in custody.
He is also accused of possessing a bladed article on November 1.
Separately, Williams has been charged with one count of attempted murder and possession of a bladed article in relation to an incident at London’s Pontoon Dock DLR station in the early hours of November 1, in which a victim suffered facial injuries after being attacked with a knife.
At Monday’s hearing, the case was brought together with seven charges, creating an indictment consisting of a total of 21 charges.
Williams is accused of attempting to murder a 14-year-old boy and a 22-year-old man and attempting to injure a 28-year-old man on Oct. 31 in Peterborough.
He is also accused of a fight in a barbershop in Peterborough on October 31 and stealing a pack of knives from an Asda store in Stevenage on October 31.
Williams is accused of assaulting a man who boarded a train from King’s Cross to Peterborough on November 1.
Other charges Williams faces include attempting to wound a 28-year-old man with intent, possession of a bladed instrument and a fight in Peterborough on October 31.
Williams remains in custody.
