Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau were among the celebrities and politicians arriving in Davos this afternoon as European leaders prepare for further confrontations with Donald Trump.
The 41-year-old pop star and the 54-year-old former Canadian Prime Minister were spotted walking hand in hand at the annual World Economic Forum in Switzerland; This event will be shaped by the participation of the US President.
French leader Emmanuel Macron, who was among those speaking at the forum, stated in his speech on Tuesday that we are approaching a period of ‘instability and imbalance’ and added: ‘We are moving to a world without rules.’
He also said that Europe should not hesitate to use the tools at its disposal to protect its own interests.
While Macron did not directly address Donald Trump, he stated that 2025 will be plagued with dozens of wars and said: ‘I heard that some of them have been resolved. ‘We prefer respect to tyrants’.
This comes as European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen earlier today scolded President Trump for threatening to hit EU allies with tariffs over Greenland.
Von der Leyen said new tariffs would risk ‘plunging Europe into a downward spiral’ and play into the hands of foreign rivals such as China and Russia.
He vowed to ‘build a new form of European independence’ from geopolitical conflict; This will come to a head when Trump arrives in Davos to meet his European counterparts.

He was responding to Trump’s announcement that a 10 percent import duty would be imposed on goods from eight European countries rallying around Denmark starting in February, following growing calls for the United States to take over Denmark’s semi-autonomous region of Greenland.
Trump trolled European leaders overnight with an image of AI in the Oval Office looking at a map showing Greenland and Canada as US territories.
In the photo published on the president’s Truth Social platform, leaders including Sir Keir Starmer, French Macron and Italian Giorgia Meloni are seen gathered around Trump’s table.
Trump also shared a text message with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, in which the official wrote: ‘I am committed to finding a path forward in Greenland. I can’t wait to see you. Best regards, Mark.’
The modified image appears to be an edited version of a photo taken in August 2025, when European leaders visited Washington for the US President’s phone call with Vladimir Putin.
In the original version of the image, the leaders are gathered near a whiteboard displaying a map showing the front line of the Ukrainian conflict.

Von der Leyen’s speech comes as European allies are weighing whether to first deploy the so-called commercial ‘bazooka’ – an economic tool that would hit the US with £81bn of tariffs – in retaliation for Trump’s threats.
Trump has in recent days stepped up pressure on his European allies to accept plans to seize Greenland, contributing to an increasingly bitter cross-Atlantic row.
He wrote on Truth Social on Sunday: ‘NATO has been telling Denmark for 20 years that ‘you must remove the Russian threat from Greenland’. Unfortunately Denmark could not do anything about it. Now the time has come and it will be done!!!’
Trump is expected to arrive in the Swiss mountain resort of Davos on Wednesday and give a private speech there.
Last night, anti-Trump protesters rocked Zurich, burning US flags and targeting American-owned stores before arriving in Davos.
Among the companies affected were luxury car brand Cadillac as well as international company Nestlé.

During the march, which started in the Bürkliplatz town square, people carried anti-Trump banners with slogans such as ‘Trump is not welcome’, ‘Trump is being jailed’ and ‘Trump is a criminal’.
