HYDRAA Commissioner A. V. Ranganath Inspects Stormwater Drain Desilting Works
Hyderabad: HYDRAA commissioner AV Ranganath on Thursday inspected storm water drain cleaning works in Rahmatnagar, Krishnanagar, Ameerpet and Gayathrinagar and quizzed locals about the problems they face during heavy rain and floods. He emphasized that clearing silt from drains and flood channels is the key to preventing waterlogging during monsoon season.
Ranganath directed officials to ensure that all blockages are removed without delay. He said that in some places, if structures such as house entrances block the flow of water, necessary measures should be taken quickly and the suffering of residents should be minimized.
Locals shared their experiences with Ranganath regarding floods and drainage problems during previous rainy seasons. Based on their feedback, Commissioner Ranganath suggested measures to improve the situation and asked the authorities to take immediate action.
He stated that the best time to carry out pre-monsoon works and repairs is the summer months, and that these works will become difficult when the rain begins. Ranganath also encouraged residents and colony welfare associations to get involved in the process. He asked them to create division-level WhatsApp groups and share regular updates on clearance efforts and local issues with officials.
