UK police to protect women and girls at concerts

At the concerts in London, new measures are brought to fight sexual crimes against women and girls.

This summer there are 51 large -scale music events planned in London, and more than three million people are preparing to participate in demonstrations only at the Wembley Stadium.

Metropolitan police brought new violence against women and girls patrols as well as a new data -oriented approach to define serious sexual criminals and prevent crimes.

The operation began on June 5 at the US singer Beyonce’s concert at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and led to the arrest of an individual on suspicion of follow -up and threatening behavior and a man in police bail.

Metropolitan police deputy commissioner Ben Russell, said there were two purposes for new patrols.

“First, about this engagement, so our officers talk to the public, really take care of them, make conversations, help people feel safe, and if they have concerns, they make them know that they can come and talk to us.

“But the other part of this has a much more difficult edge, which looks at the crowd and said, ‘Who shouldn’t be here?’

“This normal concert will not be so visible for the regular, but we will approach the people we think should not be there, and we will leave the spaces and leave the areas as quickly as possible.”

565 officers and staff have been prepared for public protection roles throughout the power aimed at developing domestic abuse, rape and sexual crime investigation teams.

MET also increased live face recognition tools to find those who are subject to court decisions, including sexual damage prevention orders for crimes.

Mr. Russell added: “For us and met, protecting women and girls has been one of our priorities for a while, and we are really working closely with the government and we support the task of trying violence against women and girls throughout the life of this parliament.

“If we detect people who commit and arrest these crimes in crowds, we think this is a good result.

“In the summer, more than three million people come to these events, we know that relatively small amounts of crimes will occur, but when we can watch it to define, record and arrest the suspects, a good result for us.”
