An official statement on Thursday (December 4, 2025) said that Uttarakhand has started pre-registration work for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls aimed at verifying voters whose names appear in the 2003 lists.

According to a statement from the chief election official’s office, the exercise includes preparations for the upcoming SIR. A campaign is also underway to “reach, coordinate and communicate with every voter” to ensure seamless coordination with voters.

Chief Electoral Officer BVRC Purushottam said the last SIR was conducted in 2003.

He said that in the pre-SIR phase, voters aged 40 years and above whose names appeared in the 2003 list will be verified through the Booth Level Officer (BLO) application.

Those in the same age group whose names were not included in the 2003 list will be verified using the information of their parents or grandparents, the official added.

The officer also said that the 2003 rolls are available on the websites of the Chief Electoral Officer and the Election Commission.

Mr. Purushottam also asked recognized national parties to verify voter lists and appoint booth-level representatives (BLAs). He said currently 4,155 BLAs have been appointed against 11,733 stands.

The statement also stated that District Magistrates, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and BLOs have been instructed to strengthen their efforts to reach voters, while help desks have been established at the district and ERO levels.
