HYDRAA Reclaims Govt Land Worth Rs.2,500 Crore
Hyderabad: HYDRAA said it took back 23.16 acres of government land in Neknampur from encroachers on Monday. The land in Survey No. 20 of Neknampur is valued at more than Rs 2,500 Million.
Following residents’ complaints about the illegal occupation, HYDRAA conducted a field-level investigation in conjunction with revenue and municipal officials. The investigation confirmed that the entire 23.16 acres of land belonged to the government and was encroached using forged documents.
HYDRAA phased out the breaches. Although some structures had already been demolished, authorities cleared outbuilding walls and sheds on Monday. The agency then erected fences around the site and installed signs marking it as government property.
The agency said the case revealed a complex pattern of land fraud. A person named Muhammad Ibrahim prepared false documents, claiming that he had purchased the land from Pakala Pochayya in 1975. Based on these documents, an attempt was made to obtain the patta passbooks through the court.
After the ground inspection, revenue officials informed the court that the land belonged to the state.
Adding to the dispute, members of Pakalla Pochayya’s family approached the authorities in 2019, claiming rights over the same land despite it being classified as state property. Authorities said the false records Ibrahim created triggered multiple claims to the land.
Following the findings, a criminal case was registered against Ibrahim at Narsingi police station for preparing fake documents. HYDRAA officials stated that the action was taken to stop organized attempts to occupy valuable state lands using false ownership claims and legal loopholes.
