President Donald Trump told reporters Friday that he is not interested in a ceasefire with Iran.
“We can have dialogue, but I don’t want to have a ceasefire,” Trump said at the White House before leaving for Florida. “You know you can’t have a ceasefire while literally destroying the other side.”
Trump continued: “They don’t have a navy. They don’t have an air force. They don’t have any equipment.”
Trump’s comments come nearly three weeks into the US-Israeli war against Iran, which has escalated into a broader regional conflict.
The president said earlier this week that he would not put his boots to the ground in Iran. Multiple news outlets reported Friday that the Pentagon would send up to 2,500 Marines to the Middle East; This was the second such deployment in the past week.
