A train derailment in southern Spain killed 21 people and injured 100, according to Spanish media. Rail operator ADIF confirmed that two high-speed trains derailed on Sunday.

Emergency services in Andalusia reported at least 25 people were seriously injured. The accident occurred near the town of Adamuz near Cordoba.

Rail network operator Adif confirmed the derailment, saying that service Iryo 6189 from Málaga to Madrid derailed and collided with an adjacent line.

Spanish high-speed train operator Iryo confirmed the derailment on the X. The statement said, “The service departed from Malaga at 18.40 and there were approximately 300 people on the ship at the time of the incident.”
