Azerbaijan and Armenia sign peace deal at White House that creates a ‘Trump Route’ in region | Europe

On Friday, the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan signed a peace agreement at the White House and made an agreement that was sought by the USA and ended the decimal -year conflict.

The two countries in the South Caucasus allowed the United States and the US to seize the decreasing influence in the region, while signed agreements with the United States and the United States. The White House said that the agreement contained an agreement that will form a large transit corridor that will be called the Trump route for international peace and prosperity.

Donald Trump said that it was a great honor for me to name the route after that, but “I didn’t want it”. A senior management official, in a call with reporters before the event, said the Armenians suggesting the name, he said.

Apart from the joint agreement, both Armenia and Azerbaijan signed an agreement with the United States to support the cooperation in energy, technology and economy. No more details have been published.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, in the middle of Trump, stretched and squeezed his own hands to marked his hands to mark the moment.

The two countries have been locked in conflict for nearly forty years because they have fought for the control of the Karabakh region, known as Nagorno Karabak. The region was largely filled by the Armenians during the Soviet period, but it was located in Azerbaijan. While the two countries struggled for the control of the region through a large number of violent conflicts that have left death for decades, international mediation efforts failed.

Most recently, in 2023, Azerbaijan took all Karabakh and held talks with Armenia to normalize relations.

Trump did not make the secret of the fact that he opened the Nobel Peace Prize for peaceful and opened the Nobel Peace Prize. The signature on Friday contributes to a series of peace and economic agreements that it was mediating by the US this year.

The leaders of both Armenia and Azerbaijan said that the breakthrough was possible by Trump and his team, and increased foreign leaders and other authorities, who said Trump should receive the Nobel Peace Prize.

Uz We are creating a basis for writing a better story than we had in the past, Paş Pashinyan said to the agreement, saying “an important milestone”.

“President Trump made a miracle in six months, Al Aliyev said.

Trump pointed out how long the conflict took between the two countries. “Thirty -five years fought and now friends and long -term friends,” he said.

This route will connect Azerbaijan and autonomous Nakhchivan Exclave, which is separated by an Armenian region of 32km wide (20 miles). The demand from Azerbaijan had made peace talks in the past.

For Azerbaijan, a large oil and gas producer, the route also provides a more direct connection to Türkiye and Europe.

Trump said he wanted to visit the route, saying, “We will have to go there.”

He asked how he felt about lasting peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Trump said, “Very safe”.

The signing of the agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, both former Soviet Republics, is a geopolitical blow to Russia. During the four -year conflict, Moscow played a mediator to expand its influence in the strategic South Caucasus region, but in February 2022, the influence of Ukraine’s full -scale invasion rapidly decreased.

The Trump administration began to interact with Armenia and Azerbaijan at the beginning of this year, when Trump’s key diplomatic ambassador Steve Witkoff met Aliyev in Baku and a senior administrative authority called “regional zero”.

Finally, the negotiations on who will improve the Trump route, which will contain a railway line, oil and gas pipelines and fiber optic lines, will probably begin next week and at least nine developers were already interested in the senior management official who briefed reporters on condition of anonymity.
