I was on same plane as ‘dead’ grandma and saw carers hold her head up | UK | News

A British grandmother was found dead in front of shocked passengers on a flight back from Spain.

Given that one woman collapsed lifeless in her wheelchair as caregivers lifted her head, other travelers suspected the “frail old lady” was already dead before boarding the plane.

Health expert and personal trainer Petra Boddington first noticed the grandmother at Malaga airport when airport staff and carers surrounded her.

The 89-year-old passenger was pushed down the plane aisle by a staff member, allowing many passengers to see him. He was sitting in a special assistance chair at the end of the row.

“People turned around in their seats and said ‘oh my god, he looks dead,'” Petra said Sun. Everyone felt that she was unfit to fly after seeing her uncomfortably twisted and doubled over.

Petra said she saw people sitting in front of Petra holding the woman’s head up.

Just before takeoff, the cabin crew allegedly expressed concern that the woman had died and then sounded the alarm for a medical emergency. The plane flipped over and emergency workers rushed to the plane and pronounced him dead.

Time of death remains unclear. The incident delayed many passengers’ journeys by almost 12 hours.

Petra, among other passengers, was disappointed that the woman was allowed on the plane due to her frail condition, saying staff should have noticed the signs.

Tracy-Ann Kitching wrote on Facebook: “easyJet – you are incredible! Why would you let a dead person on our flight?!”

The co-pilot reportedly told the passengers that he would compile statements to write a report.

EasyJet confirmed they had been issued a “fit to fly” certificate so they had no reason to ban him from the flight and denied claims that he was already dead when he boarded the plane.

Staff said he was reassured by carers that he was “just tired” and “not well”.
