He also endured cruel comments from his relatives. At one point, her grandfather said to her: ‘You have breasts like a woman.’

After Rodney broke the toilet seat at his father’s house, his stepmother forbade him from even using the furniture for fear he would break it.

But the real wake-up call came during an ordinary moment while doing laundry in November 2016. After falling, he found himself on the ground and could not get up. When paramedics arrived, it took six firefighters to lift him into the ambulance.

The Mediterranean diet is based on the traditional eating habits of countries such as Greece, Italy, and Spain, and focuses on whole, minimally processed foods, including vegetables, fruits, legumes, nuts, and whole grains, with olive oil as the main source of fat.

Fish and seafood are eaten regularly; poultry, eggs and dairy products are consumed in moderation. Red meat is generally kept to a minimum.

The approach has long been associated with a lower risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes and cognitive decline, making it one of the highest-rated nutrition plans among experts.

The keto diet takes a very different approach, relying on severe carbohydrate restriction (typically less than 50 grams per day) to push the body into a metabolic state known as ketosis.

Normally, the body uses glucose from carbohydrates such as bread, pasta and sugar as its main fuel source.

This change encourages the body to burn fat more easily, which can lead to rapid weight loss for some people.

But the transformation did not come without challenges.

He was left with a significant amount of excess skin on his abdomen, chest, arms and legs; it was a physical reminder of the body he left behind.

Her message to others struggling with their weight is simple: ‘Surgery didn’t save me, consistency did. Believing that I deserved better helped me.’
