Race-by-race preview and tips for Port Macquarie on Sunday

Choices based on a good piece.

Race 1

1. Gun Dunstall He wasn’t far off as he finished fourth in each of his first four starts either side of a spell. When last produced he stepped back to 1400 meters at Tamworth, finishing second after a spell and hitting the line well from the back of the field to finish third. The additional travel in this event should be suitable and for the first time the winner can get in shape. 7. Pearl Bellini He appeared in four of his nine starts and was beaten less than two lengths at Taree when last produced. He aims to get ahead in the race in this regard and he needs to stand out. 6. Patelya He was down the track last time out at Armidale but not too far off in his last two runs before that. 4.Argerich He was close behind at this track, two runs behind, and has since finished midfield at Taree. A ranking would not be a surprise.
How to play: Dunstall Gun WON.

race 2

8. Castle He regained two starts from a spell and followed up the follow-on third at Taree with a strong finishing victory in the 1500m when he was last produced. He returned to the field that day and performed well enough to get no points over 1500 metres. The extra trip here seems ideal. 3. Lone Star Dream He finished first after a long spell at this track when he ran third behind Dwayne and then showed the benefit of that stroke as he finished well to take victory at Tamworth on the final start. He must be in the middle of things again. 6. Misty Saint He was in midfield in their last run and could improve enough to qualify. 7. Brave Splendor he appeared in his last two starts.
How to play: Castella won.

Race 3

6. Editing He’s debuting and has three attempts to prepare. He’s a fast type and if he’s at his best he can give them a lot to chase here. 9. Magatama He is also making his first start and his two tries were satisfactory. 12. Silent Uprising Another mare on the way out. Well prepared with a series of trials. 4. Sosueme He hasn’t strayed too far in all three runs since resuming and can turn out surprisingly well.
How to play: Embodying EVERY WAY.

race 4

3. Athena’s Treasure He returned in fine form with two consecutive wins at Scone, winning that track over 1000m and 1200m before being beaten by just over four lengths over 1200m at the Randwick Speedway. He moved up to 1509 meters from a good wicket and could return to winning form. 4. Rockbarton Angel Newcastle’s latest starter winner and should be there again from the inside barrier. 7. Passionate Rebel I ran fine here in the last starting seconds, whereas 8. Girl of Steel We won here at Tuncurry before the final seconds of the restart.
How to play: Athena’s Treasure WON.
