ICC Introduces First Ever All-Female Officiating Line-Up for Women’s ODI World Cup

Dubai: The International Cricket Council (ICC), who insisted that it was more than a symbolic gesture, joined the ODI World Cup that began in India and Sri Lanka later on Thursday.

The tournament will begin on September 30 with a conflict between common hosts in Guwahati, India and Sri Lanka.

In the referee panel, former Indian players Vinda Rathi, N Janani and Gayathri Venugopalan, the first female match referee, a former Indian cricket player, will be part of the four -member match referee panel.

ICC, Claire Polosak, Jacqueline Williams and Sue Redfern Troika are preparing to work in the Third Women’s World Cup events.

“The inclusion of all the women’s panels of the match officials is not only a large milestone, but also a strong reflection of the unchanging commitment to advance the gender equality in the Cricket, not only a large milestone.” He said.

“This development goes beyond the symbolic value. Visibility, opportunity and the creation of meaningful role models that can inspire future generations.”

Eight teams compete in five places, including Colombo in the tournament. The event will be concluded on November 2.
