Immigration and Customs Enforcement says an immigrant found dead in an immigration detention center in El Paso, Texas, last week killed himself.

In a statement made by ICE, it was stated that Nicaraguan Victor Manuel Diaz took his own life on Wednesday in the large tent complex at the US Army’s Fort Bliss military base in El Paso.

In ICE’s statement, “Contracted security personnel found Diaz unconscious and unresponsive in his room. They immediately notified contracted medical personnel at the scene to take life-saving measures.” The statement was included.

ICE has not released any additional details regarding Diaz’s death. Federal authorities continue to investigate the death of the 36-year-old immigrant.

Fox News Digital has reached out to ICE for further comment.

According to ICE, Diaz was detained on January 6 as part of federal immigration raids in Minnesota before being sent to a facility in Texas.

He entered the United States nearly two years ago and Border Patrol detained him. ICE said Diaz was released on parole pending his court date, and that the judge ordered him to leave the United States at an August hearing that he did not attend.

Diaz was given a final evacuation order on January 12, two days before he was found unconscious in his room.

He was being held at Camp Montana East, the facility where ICE said another detainee, Geraldo Lunas Campos, died earlier this month after federal authorities claimed staff tried to stop him from killing him.

But one of his fellow detainees said at least five officers restrained Lunas Campos, including at least one with his arm around his neck and pinned him to the ground.

A preliminary investigation by the El Paso County Medical Examiner’s Office found that Lunas Campos died of asphyxia due to chest and neck compression and said the death would be classified as a homicide.

ICE said Lunas Campos’ death remains under investigation.
