Igor Tudor: Tottenham boss says he did not confuse Allan Taylor for Arne Slot

Tottenham Interim head coach Igor Tudor comes clean about viral moment when he mistakenly thought he hugged someone Liverpool Administrator Arne Slot.

The 47-year-old Croatian was caught on TV cameras before the 1-1 draw at Anfield last Sunday, where he confused Slot with Tottenham’s player liaison officer Allan Dixon.

The footage gained traction on social media and was used to mock Tudor, but Tudor said he had no confusion ahead of their home Premier League match against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Tudor said he often worked with Dixon, who is also the brother-in-law of former Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, and to ease that he gave him another hug ahead of their 3-2 win over Atletico Madrid in midweek.

“I don’t know the guy I spend 10 hours with every day?! So I go out and I don’t know that he is? That was kind of ridiculous,” Tudor said at a press conference.

“Now [on Wednesday] We did it on purpose as a joke because from now on I will call him ‘Arne’. This isn’t Allan, it’s Arne!”

Tudor said his family alerted him to the incident, thinking he had accidentally confused Dixon with Slot.

He added: “My 20-year-old son said everyone laughed with you because you made that mistake in Croatia. I said, ‘What mistake?’ I said. and asked him ‘do you know who the man is?’ I said.

“So I said, ‘Allan Dixon, I spend all my days with him’ and I went out and he’s standing in front of my bench. And what other coach could be in front of him? This is my training ground.

“He was there, I came to joke with him. If you understand, I came from this way.” [Dixon’s right]I touched it and went to the other side.

“I wasn’t surprised when he came back, I was laughing. I can imagine he was in Croatia because maybe they didn’t know who Allan Dixon was.”
