ICE detained an illegal immigrant accused of murdering a woman whose headless remains were found in a storage container, according to an official government statement.

Luis Mendoza-Gonzalez, a 52-year-old undocumented immigrant from Mexico, was arrested in Chicago on July 19 after charges were filed in April for hiding the body of a missing woman in a warehouse.

Mendoza-Gonzalez allegedly hid the body in his yard for two months.

The remains of 37-year-old Megan Bos were discovered in a bleach-soaked container by Waukegan Police Department officers.

Bos was reported missing on March 9, 2025. Express USA.

The Department of Homeland Security confirmed that Bos’ body was found decapitated, but the victim’s family and other official sources dispute that statement.

Prior to the ICE arrest, Mendoza-Gonzalez had been released on bail following her initial hearing.

A lawsuit was filed against the ‘immoral’ man

Deputy Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said, “Every day, ICE detains perverts like illegal criminal alien Luis Mendoza-Gonzalez and stops them from terrorizing Americans. This depraved alien was accused of hiding the body of a missing woman in a storage container for months and mistreating her corpse.” he said.

“It is absolutely disgusting that a judge would release this monster and allow him to roam free on the streets of Illinois after allegedly committing such a heinous crime. Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, Megan Bos and her family will receive justice.”

Mendoza-Gonzalez is currently in custody at the Lake County Jail in Waukegan, Illinois, and may face deportation.

The victim’s mother spoke

The victim’s mother, Jennifer Bos, spoke to ABC News about her efforts to seek justice following the tragic loss of her daughter. “It was very unexpected to be told that she had been found this way,” he said.

An autopsy suggested that Megan Bos may have died from a fentanyl overdose; but according to prosecutors, he was allegedly present at the time of Mendoza-Gonzalez’s death. The Lake County Coroner stated that the ultimate cause of death is still under investigation.

“He had put her inside, covered her with a blanket. I was told there was a rug on top of it and in the container with it was a large amount of liquid that smelled very strongly of bleach,” said Jennifer Bos.

Trump: ‘Watch what happens’

But Jennifer Bos disputes DHS’s claim that her daughter was decapitated. “He wasn’t decapitated. No, he wasn’t decapitated at all,” the mother insisted.

The family expressed disappointment that Mendoza-Gonzalez was released pretrial in April on charges that did not meet the criteria for continued detention under the Illinois SAFE-T Act.

“It drives me crazy every day just thinking about him being there,” Jennifer Bos admitted.

Jennifer Bos revealed that since her daughter’s death, she discovered that Megan Bos knew Mendoza-Gonzalez and that the two occasionally spent time together. Prosecutors are investigating how the woman obtained fentanyl.

In July, Jennifer Bos attended an event at the White House. Donald TrumpHe had the opportunity to make his voice heard by defeating ‘s Fentanyl legislation. “He started to pass, so I raised my hand in the air and said, ‘Mr. President,’ and he turned and looked at me,” he said.

He believes his story struck a chord with the president, who responded, “Look at what happened.”

‘He may be released in a few days’

Just two days later, Mendoza-Gonzalez was arrested by ICE, according to authorities.

“I’m excited,” Jennifer Bos said. “I don’t know what’s going to happen now, but I know you didn’t sleep in your bed last night.”

That same month, Lake County State’s Attorney Eric Rinehart issued a statement disputing the DHS decapitation allegations.

“The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office has been in ongoing contact with the family regarding Megan’s death and the ongoing investigations by the Waukegan Police Department and the Lake County Medical Examiner’s Office into her death and the discovery of her body, including how and when she obtained the fentanyl and what role it may have played in her death,” the statement said. The statement was included.

“As previously reported, initial autopsy reports did not show any signs of trauma or struggle, and Megan was not decapitated at any point before or after her death. Although we have not been contacted by ICE, we are preparing a formal request to hold this offender locally. As we have told the family, we believe a criminal trial and sentencing rather than deportation procedures are more appropriate.

“The defendant is charged with multiple felonies that, if convicted, could result in a consecutive prison sentence. As people know, deportation to another country does not lead to imprisonment in that country. If he agrees to deportation, he could be released within a few days. We hope he will be brought to trial so that he can be held fully accountable for his actions.”
