She said she now can’t wait to swap the freezing temperatures there for sunnier climates, but confessed the thought of taking part in the trials again terrifies her.

‘I was really flattered when I got the call,’ she said. ‘In fact, I was gobsmacked. But I said “yes” because Wales was so different. We didn’t get to experience the Australian jungle and the bedroom was minus one. To be part of the South Africa jungle is going to be a very different experience.

Sir Mo – who came fifth when he took part in the Welsh castle series in 2020 – said it would feel absolutely ‘epic’ if he were to win and be crowned the second I’m A Celebrity Legend.

But the competitive former runner knows he will be tested and said the thought of another trial involving snakes will terrify him.

Of taking part, he said: ‘I would love to win the series. I came fifth last time and that was hard. So if I won the series this time, it would be epic. To have the ‘Legend’ title for I’m A Celebrity… would be on another level.’

Speaking in the promo video, the former Fulham player said: ‘I’m sat here in South Africa, how do I feel? Scared.’

Series: 2011, voted out second (11th series)

Former 80s pop star Sinitta, 62, hopes she will finally conquer her phobia of ‘everything’ despite facing up to her fears during the Australian jungle.

Sinitta explained: ‘It’s really nice I’m A Celebrity… invited me back. During my first time, I got voted to do trial after trial and then I was out. It would be nice to have more time.

‘I thought doing the show would cure me of all my phobias, but it didn’t. As soon as you get back to the London environment and there is a big spider in the bath, you are cowering again because it’s so unnatural.’

As for whether she will embrace the famous jungle shower, Sinitta confirmed it’s a definite ‘yes’.

So much so, she admits she has even practiced how to shower in the jungle.

‘Yes I have packed underwear and swimwear,’ she added. ‘And I have practised my shower routine. You have to camp it up in the shower.’

Series: Third place in 2016 (16th series)

Adam’s son, Teddy, was only two when he first did the Australian jungle and the actor, 37, said it was one of the reasons why he jumped at the chance to be part of the South African experience was to make him and his daughter, Elsie, proud.

‘I mentioned I’m A Celebrity… to the kids and they were so happy, they really wanted me to do it,’ said Adam. ‘Teddy (now 11) was really young and doesn’t remember me being on the show. Elsie wasn’t even born! So, to do this show and let them watch it and go to school – that’s one of the reasons why we do these things, so we can put a smile on our kids’ faces.

‘I also feel so grateful to I’m A Celebrity… I thought people were voting for me to do the trials because they didn’t like me. But the love and feedback I got was amazing. I’m A Celebrity… in Australia opened loads of doors for me and I don’t think I would be here today without this show.

‘People got to know me and I have never looked back. I am so thankful.’

Ashley Roberts

Series: 2016 Queen of the jungle (16th series)

Former Queen of the jungle Scarlett Moffatt, 35, admitted she was feeling apprehensive about going into camp again, despite winning the series in 2016.

But she said I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! was such a life-changing moment for her that there was no way she could turn the chance down.

Scarlett said of being asked to take part in the All Stars line-up: ‘I was a bit overwhelmed. Out of all the people they could pick, I felt grateful that I was even a thought because so many people have done it. I watch the show religiously and I was so happy to be asked.

‘I am ten years older now and it is a big challenge for me. I do feel apprehensive as I watched the first Legends series and the trials and challenges were like all the Australian trials combined – so a level up. I hope I can do them.

‘ I am going to give it my all, but I have everything to thank this show for. Doing Gogglebox was lovely, but I’m A Celebrity… was the first programme I’d done on my own.

‘I’m a mum now too and it’s lovely to be able to show my little boy what I do as a job. I am going to miss him loads, but it will also be nice to have some time just for me especially as I’m A Celebrity… has been such a big part of my life.’

Since Australia, Seann Walsh is now a proud dad of-two and he confessed it will be hard being away from his children

Series: 2022, finished in fifth place (22nd series)

Four years after he was famously paired with Matt Hancock as a late entry on the 2022 series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! and comedian Seann Walsh, 40,  still regards it as the most surreal experience of his life.

Since Australia, he is now a proud dad of-two and he confessed it will be hard being away from his children.

He said: ‘In camp, time really slows down. You really feel it in there. Not only are you away from your children, but it’s also how far away you are and that’s tough. I am worried about that. It is going to be a new experience. I do cry as a daddy. If my daughter says: ‘I love you daddy’, I start crying. Being apart from them is going to be difficult whilst I am there.’

And yet whilst the separation from his two children will be tough, Seann also thinks it would be a beyond incredible feeling to be able to tell them he had been ‘crowned a legend’ should he go on and win the second All Stars series.

He said: ‘I have had a very strange, unique career and it’s been a rollercoaster. I came fifth last time and so to go back in and become a legend – well that would be absolutely amazing.’

I’m A Celebrity…South Africa starts Monday 6th April at 9pm on ITV1 and airs every weeknight (Mon-Fri).
