‘I’m a PR expert and Meghan Markle needs to do 1 thing to avoid next flop’ | Royal | News

The Sussexes are said to be focusing on their separate projects; Meghan is particularly committed to promoting her lifestyle brand As Ever, which aims to expand into new markets. But a PR expert has warned the Duchess on how she should approach the Australian market as a businesswoman to avoid disappointment.

Australian-born Renae Smith, founder of PR agency atticism“Australia is not an easy market to win in. We have a very strong poppy mentality, especially in Sydney and Melbourne,” he told the Daily Express.

“If I were giving them advice, I would be very open about it. For Meghan, I would be much more measured.

“If this is about testing the Australian market, it needs to feel more observational than promotional.

“It’s less ‘here’s my brand,’ more ‘I’m here to understand the audience.’ “The more he tries to push, the more resistance he’s likely to encounter.”

Ms. Smith said the trip was not destined to be a “massive failure” and would be good, adding that “‘good’ and ‘transformative’ are very different things.”

He told us: “There can be success in a controlled and selected sense.

“But if someone is expecting this to be some kind of defining comeback moment, that feels a little generous, and I doubt it will move the dial on mainstream pop.”

It is understood that Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet will not accompany the Sussexes on the trip.
