Lawyers argued that Sagar Adani, who is a managing director at Adani Green Energy and attends management committee meetings, did not direct any sale of the bonds in question in the United States. All of the bonds were sold to underwriters outside the US by Adani Green Energy, which then sold some of these bonds to US investors. They said the company was not part of secondary transactions in the sale to Americans.
