Teenage boy’s body found in creek after Blue Mountains camping trip | New South Wales

A young boy who was separated from his friend on a camping trip was found dead in a stream in a Blue Mountains national park.
New South Wales police said the two boys, aged 16 and 17, went to Leura railway station on Tuesday before walking to Mount Hay.
The older boy activated his personal locator beacon shortly before 6pm on Wednesday after the couple broke up.

A multi-agency response was triggered when the 17-year-old was removed by crane from the Acacia Flats campsite, about 36 kilometers from Mount Hay.
The search for the 16-year-old continued as rescue helicopters, paramedics and rescue teams scoured the wilderness.
His body was found around 1pm on Thursday in a stream in the Blue Gum forest in the Blue Mountains national park.
“An autopsy will be performed in the coming days to determine the cause of death and a report will be prepared for the coroner’s information,” NSW police said.
