Drugs smuggled by drone undermining rehabilitation in prisons, watchdog warns | Prisons and probation

A guard dog said that the volume of drugs given to prisons by drones to prisons seriously undermine the hopes of rehabilitation among the prisoners.

The chief inspector of the Prison’s annual report, criminal gangs, smuggled into vulnerable and vulnerable prisoners locked in filthy cells with very little activity.

Charlie Taylor has warned that drugs to high -security prisons were a threat to HMP Manchester and HMP Long Lartin’s “a threat to national security ve and repeated the calls to be taken seriously at the top levels of the government.

The guard chief said: “This was a very difficult year for the prisons in England and Wales, with the entry of the fugitives that seriously affected many people with prisoners.

“The difficulty of the prison service should be to work with the police and security services to manage organized crime -related prisoners. This is a threat that should be taken seriously at the highest levels of the government.

“When only drugs are kept outside and prisoners are involved in really purposes that will help them to be successful in their release and release, can we expect prisons to see the rehabilitation instead of containing the men and women they have.”

Almost two (39%) of the participants in the prisoner surveys were easy to take drugs in prison, and inspectors regularly visited prisons where the positive random drug tests were more than 30%.

The report stated that there are “apparently unidentified levels of guilt levels in many prisons.

Taylor’s report found an extreme crowd and lack of activity, causing disappointment among prisoners who fueled drugs, and spent most of the day in particular cramped partners with broken furniture and insects.

Extreme crowded meant that every prisoner had not enough space for his participation in the work or training when he was in custody, but even when there were inspectors with workers who used less than personnel shortage.

The purpose of the purpose was the worst performance category by the inspectors, 28 of the 38 adult prisons, which are considered “poor” or “not good enough” in this field.

The government recently approved the use of protective body armor for prison staff in high security fields after being attacked by the Manchester Arena bomb drawer in HMP Frankland in April by HMP Frankland.

Until 2031, the ministers promised to create 14,000 new prison places and accepted suggestions for an independent punishment to prevent excessive crowded in the long run.

“This report, the scale of the crisis we have inherited and the unacceptable pressures faced by our hard -working personnel – full of drugs and violence, are full of drugs and violence.

“We end this chaos. After just 500 prisons in 14 years, 14,000 extra – already 2,400 delivery – and we reform the punishment to make us never leave a gap again.

“In addition, we invest £ 40 million in order to combat the drones and to accelerate cooperation with the police as well as accelerating the cooperation with the police to stop smuggling behind the bars.”
