The Swiss vote on tough, new leaf blower ban

People in Zurich vote for strict new rules to seriously limit the use of leaf blowers and leaf vacuums as the Swiss officials try to limit noise and dust pollution.
Authorities want to completely ban gas blowers and leaf vacuums that work with gasoline and allow only electric devices to be used to fly dirt and wrecks.
They also want to limit the use of machines to the period between October and December and allow them to be used only in exceptional cases.
The opponents of the ban believe that this will be “expression of a ridiculous and anti-social forbidden culture”.
The voter information of the city in the referendum also states that the existing fines for excessive noise should be sufficient.
However, the city and municipal councils argue that it emit fine dust and bacteria in addition to noise, leaf blowers and leaf vacuums.
