Built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata, Anjadip represents India’s progress towards ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ in defence. Designed for littoral operations, the 77-metre vessel is a high-speed, agile “Dolphin Hunter” capable of detecting, tracking and neutralizing enemy submarines in coastal waters. The ship is loaded with indigenous, state-of-the-art Anti-Submarine Warfare weapons and sensor suite including Hull Mounted Sonar Abhay and is armed with Lightweight Torpedoes and ASW Rockets.
Beyond submarine warfare, Anjadip can perform coastal surveillance, low-intensity maritime operations (LIMO) and search and rescue missions for rapid response and sustained operations, and can reach speeds of up to 25 knots. The warship, named after Anjadip Island near Karwar, strengthens India’s extensive maritime security, especially off the coasts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
