Indiana woman accused of planning triple murder in Illinois, court docs say

Authorities have released new information about the 30-year-old Indiana woman accused of shooting and killing the father and parents of her children in an Illinois suburb earlier this month.
Jenna Strouble is charged with nine counts of first-degree murder stemming from the deaths of Jacob Lambert, 32, and his parents, Patrick and Stacy Forde, on March 22 in Chicago. accordingly FOX 32.
According to newly released court documents, Strouble contacted Lambert on the day of the alleged murder, asking him to “hang out,” and later admitted to investigators that he went to the meeting with the “intent” to harm himself.

Prosecutors allege Strouble went to Plum Creek Preserve, but when he learned the first location was closed, he pulled over along Burnham Road in Sauk Village and offered to give Lambert a back massage, FOX 32 reported.
Strouble then straddled Lambert, laid him face down and massaged his back for about 20 minutes, according to court documents.
Strouble allegedly told investigators that when Lambert criticized his technique, he grabbed a Glock pistol hidden under the passenger seat and held it to the back of his head for several minutes before shooting him.

Prosecutors said immediately after the shooting, Strouble went to Lambert’s parents’ home in nearby Crete Township and tried to get in using her keys before her father, Patrick Forde, came to the door, according to FOX 32.
As Patrick Forde answered the door, Strouble allegedly began shooting from the porch as he entered the home, eventually hitting him 17 times in the chest and abdomen.
When Stacy Forde came downstairs, Strouble allegedly shot her three times in the chest and abdomen, FOX 32 reported.

When asked if he came to Lambert’s family home to complete his plan, Strouble allegedly told investigators, “Yeah, pretty much.”
Immediately after the alleged murders, Strouble returned to St. John is accused of returning to his home in Indiana and calling his sister to confess to what he had done, and Strouble’s sister eventually notified the police.
Deputies reportedly arrived at the Fordes home around 2 a.m. on March 23 and found Patrick Forde’s lifeless body in the dining room and Stacy Forde lying on the stairs.

Court documents revealed that Strouble penned a note the night before the alleged murders, naming his three children and asking others to look after them.
Strouble allegedly admitted that he purchased the gun in December 2025 and purchased the suppressor online for approximately $589.

Prosecutors pointed to Strouble’s complaints about Lambert’s parenting and tensions with his family as a possible motive for the alleged murders; the two maintained an occasionally close relationship while co-parenting their two young children.
The mother reportedly admitted that she had no relationship with her children and spent little time with them, and that she voluntarily handed over custody to Lambert and his family and had recently returned them to her.

Strouble also allegedly told investigators he considered killing his own parents because he didn’t think his children would be safe in their care.
When investigators asked Lambert if he killed his parents because he didn’t want them to have custody of his children, Lambert allegedly responded, “that’s some of the reasons.”

According to FOX 32, prosecutors pointed to an incident in which Strouble allegedly took his father’s rifle and hid it under his bed, later saying he considered killing Lambert but had no plan.
Investigators also learned about Strouble’s past suicidal tendencies and use of medication for depression; This included an incident where she wanted to kill herself by jumping out of the window with her children, the outlet reported.

Strouble will appear in court Tuesday, where the judge will order his detention in custody until the hearing.
If convicted, Strouble could face life in prison.
