Indias basmati rice shipments to Iran stuck at ports amid Middle East conflict

New Delhi, June 23 (PTI), approximately 1.00,000 tons of Basmati rice against Iran, is stranded in the ports of India due to the ongoing Israeli-Iranian conflict.

Satish Goyal, the president of the association, said that approximately 1.00,000 tons of basmati rice designed for Iran is now stuck in the ports of India and that Iran is 18-20 percent of India’s total Basmati rice exports.

In his statement to Goyal PTI, posts are primarily in the Kandla and Mundra ports in Gujarat, and there are no ships or insurance for cargo connected to Iran due to the Middle East conflict.

The Israeli-Iranian conflict has increased significantly in recent weeks, both sides exchanged heavy strikes, and the United States was involved in direct hostility.

The shipping outage contributes to the difficulties faced by Indian rice exporters who have previously dealt with payment delays in the Iranian market due to international sanctions and currency problems.
