India’s traditional knowledge being copied by others: PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi struggled on Friday, September 12, 2025 to digitalize India’s old manuscripts and to create a database to share information.

As part of the launch of the Gyan Bharatam mission, Modi, who addressed a ‘International conference’ in an international conference that regained India’s information heritage through the handwriting heritage, said that digitalization was copied by others’ information from the traditional information system of the country and will help to prevent “intellectual piracy”.

The authority said that the exercise would be an extension of deciding to progress with the concept of “Swadeshi” (membership in India) and “Atmanirbhar (confident) Bharat”.

Digitized over 10 lakh

The Prime Minister said that India has the largest collection of the world, which has been numericalized over 10 Lakh so far. He praised private organizations for working with the government to achieve this goal.

India added that the old information heritage, which has been preserved in its manuscripts for centuries, was proudly presented before the world, and that India also enjoyed cultural ties and has been working with other countries such as Thailand, Vietnam and Mongolia, which hosted such manuscripts.

Modi said, “Handwriting has been destroyed throughout history, but those who remain show our ancestors how much devoted to knowledge, science and learning,” Modi said.

“India’s manuscripts include the footsteps of all humanity’s journey of development.” He said that India is a river living with its cultural identity, consciousness and spirit, and that its history is not only about the rise and fall of the dynasties.

The Prime Minister also launched a special digital warehouse platform, a special digital warehouse platform, aimed at accelerating the digitalization and protection of old Indian manuscripts and increasing the spread of traditional information that was embedded in them.

The ‘Gyan Bharatam’ mission was first announced by the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sithaman in a budget speech and then by Mr. Modi as part of the independence day speech.

More than 1,100 participants from all over the country participate in the conference. Among the participants, more than 95 academics, 22 governments and private executives, 179 professional, 112 research scholars, 230 students and more than 400 people from various other fields.

Eight groups were established under different sectors, including critical areas such as manuscript protection, digitalization technologies, commodity data standards, legal frameworks, cultural diplomacy and deciphering ancient scenarios.
