IndiGo ready to resume India-China flights once bilateral arrangements allow

New Delhi [India]August 14 (Memorial): Airline General Manager Pieter Elbers said in a statement on Thursday that the necessary bilateral agreements between the two countries are ready to restart their flights from India to China as soon as they entered into force.
“Indigo, Covid-19 pandemi before the daily flights between India and China operated daily flights. The airway between the two countries is ready to maintain these services as soon as the bilateral arrangements. Indigo directed by the entrepreneur spirit, is determined to define and maintain commercial opportunities.” He said.
In addition to the Bengaluru-Hong Kong flights until February 1, 2020, the carrier carried out daily services between Delhi and Chengdu before Pandemik. These routes were stopped at the beginning of 2020 when the COVID-19 epidem triggered global travel restrictions with other connections with China. Air India suspended Chinese operations in the same period.
While the pandemi immediately caused flights to be suspended, the tensions between the new Delhi and Beijing added another layer of difficulty. Diplomatic and economic ties sharply worsening after the conflict of the Galwan Valley between the Indian and Chinese armed forces in June 2020. The conflict has been pointing to one of the most serious border events for decades, led to tense relationships for about four years.
Only in October 2024, both sides reached an agreement on patrol arrangements along the actual control line, which alleviates some of the long -standing tensions. However, despite the diplomatic dissolution, direct commercial flights between India and China did not continue.
For Indigo, it would return to an important market to continue Chinese services and suddenly leave five years ago. The airline, which has rapidly expanding its international network in recent years, points out that it is ready. (MOMENT)
