Inner Ring Road street project revamps one of Bengaluru’s busiest corridors with data-led, citizen-driven mobility improvements

The Bangalore Political Action Committee (B.PAC) announced the final report of the ‘IRR Street: Active Stopping’ project, which exhibited more than two years of transformative intervention on a 7.5 km extension of the Indiranagar Kfc Junction and Madiwala Masjidin on a 7.5 km extension between Bengaluru’s inner Ring Road (IRR) on Saturday. Transformation is a part of a constant citizen government cooperation.
The report, published by the Chief Civil Commissioner M. Mashwar Rao, documents a number of critical changes that aim to alleviate traffic, increase pedestrian safety, improve bus services, and recover public spaces that connect neighborhoods such as Domlur, Ejipura, Koramangala and Indiranagar.
“This initiative is very appreciated because it contains all key stakeholders. The walk is the future of mobility in cities. BBMP is determined to support such efforts in Bengaluru,” he said.
According to the report, the IRR corridor before the intervention, obstruction, missing paths, neutral stresses, weakly preserved rain water drainage and insufficient bus frequency drowned. A traffic analysis by B.PAC showed a peak-hour grills dating back to 2.6 km with over 24 blockage warnings per day. The road also had five deadly accidents in 2023.
“Between June 2023 and July 2025, B.PAC B. mobile team was coordinated with BBMP, BMTC, Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) and BSWML. Methodologies include ground controls, data collection and impact -based application. This report is not just about correcting a street.
The report said that the fundamental transformations on the corridor, the UNTC’s MF-5 fleet from SMVT to the silk board rising between 17 to 26 buses, rose from 169 to 227 in another initiative. Rumble strips, danger boards and warning signs. As a result, between November 2024 and January 2025, the number of deaths fell to zero.
Under the initiative, more than 4,300 tons of construction wrecks, 130 barricades and paths and 129 tons of garbage were cleaned. By adding BBMP electric or 45 new street lamps, it has reduced the dark areas that have previously made walking at night, especially for women and children. Sony World Junction and flooded areas such as Domlur saw the construction of shoulder drainage with recommended pavement inputs every 5 to 7 m. In the report, a few inputs remained clogged, pushed to improve BBMP maintenance applications and set up a visible warning sign in open drainage.
