Goldie Hawn says kids ‘have to struggle’ instead of getting everything

Goldie Hawn believes children “should struggle” rather than be given everything they want.
On January 21 “Dan Buettner PodcastThe 80-year-old actor talked about the “pampering of the American mind” and why he disagrees with that philosophy.
“They shouldn’t be able to get what they want. They should be fighting,” he explained. “I didn’t like the tensions with Katie. I wasn’t going out and buying her a bunch of clothes all the time because she was running out of clothes and I felt like it was a crazy waste of money. And I’m telling you, she would make clothes that were nobody’s business.”
He also emphasized the importance of “getting your kids working at home” or getting them involved in sports.

Hawn said her three sons all play hockey, which “is a great sport for kids” and really helps them “learn how to handle falls.”
During the interview, the “Overboard” star also touched on her decades-long relationship with Kurt, attributing her success to the “freedom” she felt in the relationship despite never being married.
“Even if we get married, it doesn’t matter because 42 years have passed. But I have a relationship with birds. I love them. It’s a wonderful relationship… but I believe that if I were a bird and you left the cage door open, I might never be able to fly.”
He continued: “But if you close that door for my freedom and independence, I’ll probably blow all my feathers out. It’s the freedom to move from self to freedom, basically the freedom not to interfere with anyone else.”

Kurt and Hawn first met on the set of “The One and Only, Original, Original Family Band” in 1966, but they didn’t start dating until they reunited in 1983 when they worked together on the movie “Swing Shift.”
During the podcast, she also commented on her sexual chemistry with Kurt, emphasizing its importance. She’s previously revealed how important physical intimacy is in a relationship, telling E: News: “You’ve got to have good sex.”
“Because sex is something that connects you and creates more belonging,” she said. “People who have healthy sexual relationships generally last much longer. But it’s not just because of the act, it’s the warmth and intimacy it creates.”
Once their relationship began, the duo blended their families, which included Hawn’s two children from a previous relationship, actors Oliver and Kate Hudson, and Kurt’s son Boston, whom he shares with ex-wife Season Hubley.
